However, Antônio Gaudério’s work is soulful and narrates unforgettable plots which has as its protagonists, the simple, invisible, and suffering people of Brazil. This unfortunate reality, seen in many parts of Brazil, genuinely moved Antônio Gaudério and made him a bold, obstinate and tenacious photograph journalist. A career mostly spent at the Folha de São Paulo
(between the decades of 1980 and 2000), Gaudério joined unlikely adventures that provided him the recognition of his colleagues and the joy of making a difference on the reality he wanted to change.This is also a job that has earnt him several honorable mentions, and celebrated awards, such as the Vladimir Herzog Award (1993, 1995 and 1998), “Folha de Jornalismo” Award (1995, 1998 and 2007) and the Ayrton Senna de Fotografia award (2000).
Although a domestic accident harmed Antônio Gaudério’s victorious career in 2008, it has never taken away his love of photojournalism, however nor dimmed the brightness of his work. His is a legacy that will always stay as an instrument of denunciation, an expression of pure art and a declaration of love to the human being.
